Public discussion "The Upgrade of the Bosnian Constitution Would Enable Faster European Integration", Stolac, March 20, 2010 - Supported by NED

After holding of the last planned activity - public debate in Trebinje, FTC asked for the project extension for a month since we realised that we still had enough financial means to hold another public discussion.
FTC believes that holding of the public discussions is the only good method for starting of this process and creation of the ambient for implementation of such an important process for any state, including Bosnia and Herzegovina as well (which we concluded based on the results of the project), and that the public discussions are the only way to get citizens of BiH familiar with this process (which was concluded by the participants of every and each public discussion). Finally, such public discussions are the only way to involve as many as possible citizens, members of the political parties, experts, youth, NGOs into this very important process for BiH.

Public discussion " The upgrade of the Bosnia Constitution would enable faster European integration" - Trebinje, February 19, 2010 - Supported by NED

According to the plan of the project activities, the public discussion "The Upgrade of the Bosnian Constitution Would Enable Faster European Integration" was held on Friday, February 19, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Leotar Hotel in Trebinje.

Radio show - "The upgrade of the Bosnian Constitution would enable faster European integration" - Korona Radio, Trebinje, February 18, 2010 - Supported by NED

Having known very well this part of Eastern Herzegovina, its dislocation from the administrative centre of the entity (which is in Banja Luka), completely centralised system of the authority in this entity, where all decisions are being brought in the administrative centre, but also aware of the fact that the local authorities in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina is held by SNSD-Milorad Dodik, FTC believed that in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina the media promotion of FTC's attitudes as the attitudes of the civil society and the aims that FTC is advocating regarding the constitutional changes is needed. Therefore, FTC decided to promote the attitudes and aims by the radio show at the local radio station (which signal covers the region of Eastern Herzegovina).

Report from the public discussion: "The upgrade of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina would enable faster European integration" Bijeljina, January 23, 2010

At the beginning of this report, FTC would like to emphasise that the realisation of the TV show with the TV station BN from Bijeljina was a pretty good choice we made. During our partnership with the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Republic of Srpska, we always made the extra effort to encourage politicians from Bijeljina to take part in public discussion. However, after the realisation of the TV show on January 21, 2010, the turnout of the politicians was excellent. Representatives of both position and opposition parties responded to our invitation to take part in the public discussion. Therefore, FTC believes that the change of the planned activities and realisation of the TV show in Bijeljina instead of Sarajevo was totally a positive change.

However, the turnout of the associations of the national minorities and citizens of non-Croatian ethnicity was very good and they had very good discussion with the speakers. The characteristics of the discussion, the structure of the participants, selected topics and poor turnout of the authorities point out that there are violations of human rights. In addition, it was noticed that there is fear among some citizens, national minorities, to emphasise publicly the problems they face with.

Conference "Inter-religious Understanding" 8 - 9, December 2006. Trebinje

The basic motive behind the idea of holding of the conference in Trebinje is the term very well known in West, but, unfortunately, insufficiently known and used in Bosnia and Herzegovina - 'inter-religious understanding'. As one of the significant participants (fra Ivo Markovic) of the event had said '...we in BiH, in ecumenism, have learned and got used to the word dialogue, and the term of inter-religious understanding is the next step in the dialogue directed toward coexistence'.
That kind of inter-religious understanding was the topic of two-day dialogue among the members of several religions who have responded to the invitation and participated in very constructive conversation.

International round table "How to reach the truth" 24.11.2006 - Tuzla

The idea of organising of the international round table "How to Reach the Truth?" came as the result of the IKV/Pax Christi meeting with partner organisations from Western Balkans, which was held in Mavrovo (FYR Macedonia).

The international round table is aimed to reaffirm need for establishment of truth, prevent politicisation of material evidences about the crimes committed in the wars at the territory of former Yugoslavia, as well to determine the role of non-governmental organisations and media in the process of finding the answer to the question "how to reach the truth?".

Forum of Tuzla Citizens, together with IKV, selected the particular groups of people that should be invited to the round table. We agreed that participants should come mostly from the non-governmental organisations from BiH, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Macedonia in order to have regional approach to the subject. It was also decided to invite professors from different faculties (like Philosophy Faculty, Faculty of Political Sciences, etc.), as well representatives of different organisations that are dealing with missing persons and truth and reconciliation and representatives of media in order to have multidisciplinary approach to the subject.
