Having known very well this part of Eastern Herzegovina, its dislocation from the administrative centre of the entity (which is in Banja Luka), completely centralised system of the authority in this entity, where all decisions are being brought in the administrative centre, but also aware of the fact that the local authorities in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina is held by SNSD-Milorad Dodik, FTC believed that in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina the media promotion of FTC’s attitudes as the attitudes of the civil society and the aims that FTC is advocating regarding the constitutional changes is needed. Therefore, FTC decided to promote the attitudes and aims by the radio show at the local radio station (which signal covers the region of Eastern Herzegovina).
The radio show was realised within the regular programme of Korona Radio, in the radio show “Straight to Target”, presented by radio presenter Tanja Tomić. The guests of the show were Prof. Slavo Kukic and Mr Vehid Sehic.
The guests clearly presented the attitudes of the civil society regarding the constitutional changes, explained and emphasised the major changes that civil society is advocating, such as prohibition of any kind of discrimination, i.e. harmonisation of the constitutional regulations with the European Convention in Human Rights, and downsizing of the state administration in order to create a cheaper state. In addition, besides these basic principles as Amendment proposals for changes of the Constitution that FTC as representative of the civil society is advocating at all public discussions, the guests also presented their attitudes regarding the participation of the international community in the process of the constitutive changes, basic obstacles, progress in the process of the European integration, obligations of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in this process, and political responsibility of the carriers of the authorities.
FTC believes that this radio show enabled wider public of this part of Republic of Srpska to hear some other opinions, which are not the opinions of the politicians, and, as one of the participants of the public discussion said – to demystify the process of the constitutional changes that is inevitable, but are used only in the service of the political leaders and their political interests.
Therefore, FTC is free to believe that the realisation of these activities in Trebinje might be one of the most significant tasks that FTC set in order to work towards accomplishment of the general aim of our project – changes and additions to the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
